Here work mainly concentrates on term extraction for the purpose of term list population. This is put in place to create a reference document that includes rules, suggestions and any other subject matter specific conventions that can help translators produce the preferred style for the client. It also includes the commonly-used terminology in the particular field of knowledge by a particular specialized circle; acronyms, units of measurement, legal preferences, etc. In this phase, a team member is given the source file and is asked to go through it and pick up the key terms that would affect the translation. No translation is required at this stage, it is dedicated for building a glossary and overall familiarization with the source text and it precedes the actual translation itself.
